PS5 and PS4 receive the new system software updates globally today

Today, the home video game console developer, PlayStation has officially announced the rolling out of the PS5 and PS4 system software updates globally.

The new update introduced some fan-requested features to the global community, like the ability to create or join Open and Closed Parties on the PS5 and PS4 consoles.

On PS5, the newly released update brings UI enhancements to Game Base and Trophy cards, as well as accessibility features like mono audio for headphones.

For PS5 gamers with accounts registered in the United States or the United Kingdom will be able to try out a Voice Command function that allows them to use their voice to discover and access games, apps, and settings, as well as control media playback, with only English language settings.

The new update also brings new Pro Tips cards in the Control Center, for a refresher on PS5 features like how to apply game settings on your console, pin movies and applications to your screen while playing, and share your screen with friends.

In addition, the new rollout update featured an ability for PS App users to create and join Open and Closed Parties using the app. The PS App Game Base UI has also been modified to make it easier to access the Friends, Parties, and messaging capabilities, ensuring a consistent player experience with PS5.

Users of the PS Remote Play mobile app may now choose from new Screen Reader languages for both iOS and Android, including Portuguese, Brazilians, Finnish, Swedish, Turkish, Greek, Thai, and Chinese, as well as a new “dark mode” based on their phone settings, traditional and simplified.

According to the gaming giant, the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is expected to be released in the coming months on the PS5. VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphical output on HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors.

This enhances visual performance for PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual effects, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing. Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render instantly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced. Previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a game patch and future games may include VRR support at launch.

Players may even apply VRR to PS5 games that don’t support it as an extra option. For some games, this option may increase video quality. You can disable this feature at any time if it causes any unexpected visual impacts.

This alternative option, as well as VRR, can be turned on or off. It’s vital to keep in mind that your results may differ depending on the TV and game you’re playing. Update to this latest system software updates to enjoy the new exciting features.
